MacKenzie Weegar and Team Canada made it two wins on the spin Sunday at the 2025 IIHF World Championship, scoring a 7-1 triumph over Latvia.

In all, it was a successful day for each of the Flames participating at the event, with Canada, Slovakia and Czechia all earning victories on Day 3 of the tournament.

Canada 7, Latvia 1

Canada improved to 2-0-0 in Group A following a decisive win over Latvia.

The Canadians scored seven unanswered goals, two each off the sticks of Columbus forward Kent Johnson and Philadelphia forward Travis Konecny, while Pittsburgh captain Sidney Crosby chipped in with three assists.

Weegar finished +2 for the game, earning 14:39 of ice-time in the victory, as Canada put home seven unanswered goals after Latvian forward Eduards Tralmaks opened the scoring 7:05 into the first period.

Marc-Andre Fleury earned the victory in goal for Canada, making 16 saves.

Slovakia 3, Slovenia 1

The Slovaks earned their first win of the tournament, breaking the game open with two goals in a 66-second span midway through the first period to get past Slovenia.

Pavol Regenda's tally at the 9:26 mark of period one stood up as the decider.

Honzek finished the afternoon with three shots on goal over his 13:10 of ice-time.

Czechia 2, Norway 1

Utah Mammoth netminder Karel Vejmelka stopped 22 of 23 shots as the Czechs won their second game in as many attempts, slipping past Norway 2-1.

All the scoring occurred in the second period; Boston Bruins sniper David Pastrnak broke a 1-1 tie with his tally at the 13:20 mark.

Dan Vladar backed up Vejmelka for the second straight game, while Adam Klapka did not dress.

Flames fans will have their eyes on a trio of contests as the tournament continues Monday.

Slovakia goes after their second victory in as many days when they face Austria at 8:20 a.m. MT, while the Czechs take on Denmark at 12:20 p.m. MT.

Mikael Backlund, Rasmus Andersson and their Swedish teammates seek their third win of the tournament at 12:20 p.m. MT when they tangle with Finland.
