Permobil is a company that offers support and financial assistance to organizations and agencies that improve the quality of life for all individuals with mobility limitations.
Wood became a paraplegic after falling from a roof while training academy recruits for the Norfolk's Sheriff's Office and has not let that stopped her from living a full life.
She loves the game of hockey and is an avid sled hockey player. She played on the USA Women's Sled Hockey team for two years where she won gold in Ontario at the first ever Women's Cup. Currently, she plays for the USA Warriors and the Virginia Beach Hockey Club Destroyers.
She lives in Virginia Beach and made the trek north to attend morning skate on Saturday at MedStar Capitals Iceplex. Wood had recently been fitted for a new wheelchair, but was unaware of the Capitals plans.
