BOB PENNINGTON, Jan. 28, Philadelphia

During the Jan. 28 game vs. the Philadelphia Flyers, we welcomed World War II and Korean War Veteran, United States Coast Guard Seaman Bob Pennington.  

From Cincinnati, Seaman Pennington enlisted with the Coast Guard in 1945 after graduating high school. He completed basic training at the Manhattan Beach Coast Guard Training Station and later celebrated Victory over Japan Day in Times Square, New York City. He was drafted into active duty during the Korean War and stationed in the Philippines, where he provided navigation support and assisted with search and rescue operations.
