Blue Jackets to face Capitals in First Round of Stanley Cup Playoffs

The Columbus Blue Jackets will make their second-straight Stanley Cup Playoffs appearance and fourth in franchise history as they face the Metropolitan Division champion Washington Capitals, the club and National Hockey League announced today. The Blue Jackets, who finished the regular season with a 45-30-7 record (97 pts.), are the first wild card in the Eastern Conference and will take on the Capitals, who went 49-26-7 (105 pts.). It is the first meeting between the two teams in the postseason.

The best-of-seven series will begin on Thursday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Capital One Arena in Washington with Game Two scheduled for Sunday, April 15. The series shifts to Columbus' Nationwide Arena for Games 3 and 4 on Tuesday, April 17 and Thursday, April 19, respectively. The complete series schedule follows with game times predicated upon the winner of tonight's game between the Boston Bruins and Florida Panthers which determines the winner of the Atlantic Division (Tampa Bay or Boston). A final schedule with broadcast information, including FOX Sports Ohio telecasts, is expected to be released after the conclusion of tonight's Boston-Florida game.
