ZACH WERENSKI IN THE COMMUNITY

Since being selected by the Blue Jackets in the first round of the 2015 NHL Draft, Zach Werenski has been one of best defensemen in the National Hockey League. In just six years, he has appeared in two All-Star Games and become the top-scoring defenseman in franchise history. He also signed a six-year contract extension through the 2027-28 season, solidifying his commitment to our team and our community.

In 2023, Zach purchased a suite at Nationwide Arena. Zach will select special groups - from kids battling life-threatening illnesses to military members and their families to first responders to young people from underserved communities to youth hockey players - to enjoy a memorable night of Blue Jackets hockey in his suite throughout the season.

Also in 2023, Zach will support the Salvation Army Toy Drive and Christmas Cheer program. Every year families in our community must choose between giving their children gifts or paying bills. Each year the Salvation Army collects thousands of toys to distribute to Columbus families in need. In 2022, more than 11,000 toys were collected and distributed to more than 2,000 Columbus families.
