In front of a raucous Bell Centre crowd in Montreal, it took less than a minute for Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon to score the first-ever goal at the 4 Nations Face-Off.

Just 12 seconds into Canada's power play, MacKinnon scored with a shot from the bottom of the right circle set up by a no-look, backhand feed from fellow Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, native Sidney Crosby.

Canada defeated Sweden 4-3 in overtime to complete a thrilling opener to the 4 Nations Face-Off.

With the overtime victory, Canada picked up two standings points, while Sweden recorded one point.

The action from Montreal continues on Thursday when Avalanche forward Artturi Lehkonen and Finland face the United States at 6 p.m. MT on ESPN and ESPN+.
