In the midst of a two-game stretch over two consecutive nights, the Senators have recalled Jonas Johansson from Belleville.
The 31-year-old Swedish goaltender has been instrumental in the Senators’ strong start to the season in the American Hockey League. He has played five games and boasts an impressive 3-1-1 record with a 2.92 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage.
Johansson suffered his only regulation-time loss in his first start of the season. Since then, he has helped his team earn points in every game he’s played.
Acquired in a trade during training camp, Johansson has 105 games of NHL experience. Last season, he posted an 11-10-2 record in 25 appearances in goal for the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Ottawa Senators will face the San Jose Sharks on Thursday night at the Canadian Tire Centre.
The Belleville Senators, meanwhile, will kick off a three-game road trip on Friday when they visit the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
