Sidney Crosby vs. Alex Ovechkin in international play

Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin will play each other in international competition for the fourth time when Team Canada and Team Russia compete in a semifinal game at the World Cup of Hockey 2016 on Saturday (7 p.m. ET; ESPN2, CBC, TVA Sports).

Team Canada went 3-0-0 in the preliminary round to win Group A. Team Russia (2-1-0) finished second in Group B and advanced to the semifinals with a 3-0 win against Team Finland on Thursday.

Crosby and Canada have gotten the best of Ovechkin and Russia since each player first competed in the same tournament, the 2004 IIHF World Junior Championship. Crosby and Ovechkin first went head-to-head in the gold-medal game at the 2005 WJC, when Crosby had an assist and Ovechkin left the game in the second period with a shoulder injury. Canada defeated Russia 6-1.
