Capitals captain shows up for team's AHL affiliate in postseason

Talk about a Great fan.

Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin, aka The Great Eight, was in attendance for the Hershey Bears Calder Cup Playoff game on Thursday.

Ovechkin, the NHL's career goals leader, took in Game 2 of the Best of 3 Atlantic Division First Round series between the Bears and the Bridgeport Islanders.

Fans in attendance went wild when Ovechkin was shown on the scoreboard waving a team towel and doing the squad's signature "roar."

Ovechkin was there with Capitals teammate Aliaksei Protas, whose younger brother, Ilya Protas, is currently on the Bears roster.

The Bears have been the primary AHL affiliate of the Capitals since 2005.
