ARLINGTON, Va. - The Washington Capitals and Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation's Go Green auction featuring special green warmup jerseys raised $82,900 for Leveling The Playing Field (LPF). The jerseys were worn during warmups on March 19 during the Capitals vs. Rangers game.

The jerseys were signed and auctioned off along with select signed sticks wrapped in green tape and signed green Capitals pucks. Top items in the fundraiser included an Alex Ovechkin signed jersey; a framed, team-signed puck set; a 2020-21 team-signed green jersey; an Ovechkin signed, player-used stick; and a T.J. Oshie signed jersey. Thirty-one items sold for $1,000 or more.

LPF is focused on delivering the opportunity to enjoy the mental and physical benefits of youth sports to underserved children. Through active solicitation of used and excess sporting equipment, it warehouses and sorts donations throughout the greater Washington region. The delivery of equipment to municipal and school programs serving low-income communities saves landfill space as well as program-funds, ensuring lower registration fees, expanded scholarship programs, and enhanced athletic program offerings for more children. Since 2013, LPF has distributed more than $7 million worth of equipment to more than 1,000 schools and youth programs in the Washington, D.C, and Baltimore, Md., regions.
