RANGERS RUNDOWN

The New York Rangers return to The Garden for their second game of a back-to-back on Sunday night against the Red Wings (7:00 PM - TV: MSG/NHL Network - Radio: ESPN 880 AM).

The Rangers will hold their third Centennial theme night against the Red Wings, as they celebrate the 1942-67 -Original Six Era. The Blueshirts will commemorate the players that built the Rangers status as a true New York team and the homegrown legends who starred for the team during those years.

Alexis Lafreniere is set to skate in his 400th career NHL game.

Overall, the Blueshirts have wins in seven of their last nine games and points in eight of their last 11 contests (7-3-1).

New York has allowed the second fewest goals against per game (2.47) in the league this season.

The Rangers have allowed 11 goals in the second period, the fewest allowed in the NHL, and 14 in the third, tied for the fourth fewest goals allowed. Overall, the Blueshirts have allowed 47 games this season, tied for the fourth fewest in the league.

This season, the Rangers have allowed 27 goals at 5-on-5, tied for the second fewest in the NHL.

The Blueshirts’ 53.3 faceoff win percentage overall ranks fourth in the league. Their 199 faceoff wins in the defensive zone rank sixth in the NHL.

Rangers goalies have had a combined 2.45 goals against average, the second lowest in the league, and a save percentage of .909, the third highest in the league.

New York is one of four teams this season to have allowed one or fewer goals in six or more games (COL/WSH - 7, SEA - 6) and are one of five teams to post multiple shutouts (DAL, LAK, MIN & PIT).

The Rangers’ two shorthanded goals this season are tied for the eighth most in the league. Last season, New York’s 18 shorthanded goals led the NHL.

The Blueshirts’ plus-18 shot differential in the second period is ranked seventh in the NHL.

Thus far this season, the Rangers are tied for second in takeaways (97), have the second fewest giveaways (255) and rank fourth in hits (466).

RANGERS AND RED WINGS CONNECTIONS

Rangers forward Noah Laba is native to Michigan, hailing from Northville.

Rangers assistant general manager Ryan Martin had a 16-year stint (2005-21) with the Red Wings, including 11 seasons (2010-21) as the team’s assistant general manager and eight seasons as the general manager of the Grand Rapids Griffins (2013-21).

Red Wings forward Patrick Kane played in 19 regular season games for the Blueshirts during the 2022-23 season and an additional seven playoff games.

Red Wings goaltender Cam Talbot played his first two seasons (2013-14 – 2014-15) with the Rangers, making 53 starts with the team.

Red Wings forward Andrew Copp played for the Rangers at the end of the 2021-22 season following his acquisition at the trade deadline. Copp finished with the second most points by an in-season acquisition in Rangers history, behind Steve Larmer in 1994 (16 PTS in 23 GP). Copp accumulated 32 points in 36 total games with the Rangers (8G-10A in 16 RS GP & 6G-8A in 20 PS GP).

TEAM NOTES

FANTASTIC MR. FOX

Adam Fox leads the Blueshirts in assists (13), blocked shots (30) and takeaways (14), and ranks second in points (16). Every time he has notched a multi-point game this season, the Rangers have come away with a win (6-0-0). He has recorded four multi-point games and collected nine points (9A) in his last nine games.

Among all NHL blueliners this season, he is tied for third in takeaways, tied for fourth in points, tied for fifth in assists and tied for 12th in goals. He is one of six skaters in the NHL with 30+ blocked shots and 10+ takeaways.

Fox has the fourth most assists (319) and fourth most points (385), among all Rangers defensemen in franchise history. He surpassed Brad Park for the fourth most points among defensemen in franchise history against Seattle (Nov. 1).

He leads the Rangers in multi-point games (6) and ranks second among NHL blueliners. On Nov. 10 vs. NSH, Fox registered his 29th career multi-assist period and passed Brad Park (28) for the third most among Rangers defensemen. Since 2024-25, his five three-point games are tied for third and his 23 multi-point games are tied for fourth among NHL defensemen.

Fox is raising money towards the Tackle ALS organization to help the Sean M. Healey & AMG Center for ALS at Massachusetts General Hospital develop therapies that repair or reverse damage caused by ALS and ultimately prevent the disease entirely this season. For every goal he scores, he will be donating $1,023 to Tackle ALS and for every assist, he will be donating $523. So far this season, Fox has donated $9,868 (3G-13A) to the cause.

FORECHECK, BACKCHECK, TROCHECK

Vincent Trocheck has recorded four points (2G-2A) and two multi-point games in his last three contests since returning to the ice on Nov. 10 following an injury.

Since 2024-25, Trocheck ranks third in the NHL in faceoff percentage (59.0) and his 954 overall wins rank sixth among skaters who’ve taken 1,000 or more faceoffs.

MIKA MAGIC

Mika Zibanejad is tied for the lead on the Rangers in goals (6), ranks fourth on the team in points (11) and is tied for fourth on the team in assists (5). He has points in four of his last five games (2G-3A).

Since 2024-25, Zibanejad’s 10 power play goals rank first on the Rangers and his 23 power play points rank second. His 123 career power play goals are the sixth most power-play goals by a Swedish player in NHL history.

Throughout his career as a Ranger, Zibanejad has collected 256 goals, tied for the seventh most goals by a Ranger in franchise history. On Nov. 15 at CBJ, he notched his 600th career point as a Ranger, the eighth most in franchise history.

MILLER TIME

This season, J.T. Miller ranks first on the Rangers in face-off wins (186), second in hits (50), tied for third in shots (47), tied for fourth in assists (5), tied for fifth in goals (4) and ranks sixth in points (9). He notched his first game-winning shootout goal of the season and his sixth game deciding goal of his career on Nov. 15 at CBJ.

Among all skaters in the league with at least 300 faceoffs taken this season, his 57.9 faceoff percentage ranks fifth in the league and his 186 faceoff wins rank 13th in the NHL. Since 2024-25, among all NHL players who took 1,000 or more faceoffs, Miller ranks sixth in faceoff percentage (58.2).

BREAD WINNER

This season, Artemi Panarin ranks first on the Rangers in points (17), second in assists (12) and tied for third in goals (5). He has four multi-point games, two four-point games and one three-point game. His two four-point games are tied for the league lead. He has collected 10 points through his last five games (3G-7A).

Among NHL skaters since his debut in 2015-16, he ranks fourth in assists (580) and fifth in points (887).

Panarin’s 226 points (91G-135A) rank sixth in the NHL since 2023-24. In that same time frame, he has points in 132 of 181 games, the sixth most in the NHL.

Since 2024-25, Panarin ranks first in goals (42), points (106), power play points (31) and shots (296), and is tied for first in assists (64) among Rangers skaters. He has had at least one point in 65 of his 99 games. His eight power play goals rank second on the team and his five game-winning goals are tied for second among all active Rangers skaters in that time frame.

TOO COOL

Will Cuylle leads the Rangers in hits (70), is tied for the lead in goals (6) and power play goals (3), ranks fifth in points (10), and has nine points (4G-5A) through his last 10 games. The Rangers’ record every time Cuylle has scored a goal is 5-0-0.

His 70 hits this season rank fifth in the league. Since 2024-25, his 371 hits rank second in the NHL.

Last season, he surpassed Ryan Callahan (285) for the most hits among Rangers in a single season since the NHL began tracking in 2005-06.

SHESTY’S SAVES

Among all goaltenders this season with 10 or more starts, Igor Shesterkin’s 2.39 goals against average is the fourth lowest in the league.

Since the beginning of the 2021-22 season and among all goalies with at least 100 games played, Shesterkin ranks fourth in the NHL in wins (143), is tied for second in shutouts (20), tied for third in save percentage (.917) and has the fifth lowest goals against average (2.50). In that same time frame, he leads all NHL goaltenders with 73 games allowing one or fewer goals.
