The New York Rangers defeated the Florida Panthers 2-1 in overtime of Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final at Madison Square Garden in New York on Friday. The best-of-7 series is tied 1-1.

Star of the game

Though Barclay Goodrow scored the winning goal with 5:59 left, it was made possible by the play of Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin. He made 26 saves and kept his team in it in a wild, back-and-forth game.

Goal of the game

Well, of course it’s the goal by Goodrow. He took a pass from Vincent Trocheck and rifled a shot over the blocker of Sergei Bobrovsky.

Save of the game

Believe it or not, this doesn’t belong to either goalie. Instead, it goes to Panthers defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson. With 9:07 left in overtime, Rangers forward Filip Chytil got the rebound of a Chris Kreider shot and appeared to have an open net to shoot at. With the fans starting to anticipate a game-winner, Ekman-Larsson got his backside in the way, and the and puck never made it to net.

What’s next

The series shifts to Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida, for Game 3 on Sunday (3 p.m. ET; ABC, ESPN+, SN, TVAS, CBC).
