Welcome to the NHL Status Report. Here is the latest lineup/injury news around the NHL.

Carolina Hurricanes

Seth Jarvis could make his season debut for the Hurricanes this weekend. The forward has been out after having shoulder surgery in June. He led the Hurricanes with 32 goals last season and had 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in the playoffs. Carolina begins a five-game road trip at the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday (3:30 p.m. ET; SNE, SNO, SNW, CARNHL, HHN) and also plays at the Calgary Flames on Sunday. "I would hope so," coach Rod Brind'Amour said about Jarvis playing on the trip. "He hasn't been cleared yet, so when he gets that clearance, then we'll see."

Washington Capitals

Matt Roy is questionable to play against the New Jersey Devils on Saturday (1 p.m. ET; MNMT, MSGSN, NHLN, SNP, SNO, SNE), coach Spencer Carbery said. The defenseman was a full participant in practice Friday after missing the past five games with a lower-body injury. ... Center Pierre-Luc Dubois did not practice and will miss his fourth straight game because of an illness. Carbery said Dubois is feeling "a little bit better" and he's hopeful he can return to practice next week. ... Center Justin Sourdif also did not practice because he was ill and Carbery was unsure if he will be available to play against the Devils. "That will be a day-to-day scenario," Carbery said. "I'll talk to (head athletic trainer Jason Serbus) and see how he's doing."

Winnipeg Jets

Josh Morrissey (upper body) is week to week, Jets coach Scott Arniel said prior to a 4-3 overtime loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday. The Jets' top defenseman, who was previously listed as day to day, was injured after a hit on Colorado Avalanche forward T.J. Hughes in the first period of a 3-2 win Oct. 7. Morrissey played one shift at the beginning of the second period but then left the game and did not return. "We needed some sort of a day-to-day (timeline) to figure out where he's at," Arniel said. "Right now, we're just going week to week on him, kind of play that timeline." He also said Morrissey, who has three assists in four games this season, will not need surgery.

Chicago Blackhawks

Bowen Byram did not play for the Blackhawks against the Jets on Thursday because of an upper-body injury. The defenseman is leading the team in ice time per game (24:42) and has one assist in six games this season, his first with Chicago since being acquired in a trade with the Buffalo Sabres on June 23. Chicago next plays the Dallas Stars on Saturday (7 p.m. ET; Prime Video, CHSN).
