Ed Snider Youth Hockey and Education

Ed Snider Youth Hockey & Education is a nationally acclaimed nonprofit that uses the sport of hockey to educate and empower under-resourced youth of Philadelphia to prosper in the game of life. Flyers Charities supported the building of a multi-purpose outdoor street hockey rink outside the Joseph Scanlon Recreation Center in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia. The rink was offically opened in May 2023 and the Flyers support of Snider Hockey is continuing on with new projects to be announced.

Abramson Cancer Center at Penn Medicine

Flyers Charities is partnering with the Abramson Cancer Center at Penn Medicine to launch of the Flyers Against Prostate Cancer initiative. Funding from Flyers Charities will support five prostate cancer screening events in the community and the development of a co-branded educational video as part of the initiative. Five walk/drive-through clinics will be set up at local sites in the Philadelphia region, with a focus on reaching communities who have the highest mortality rates from prostate cancer. Eligible participants will undergo a PSA (prostate-specific antigen) blood draw, and a patient navigator will inform participants of the results and provide navigation to further diagnostic testing if needed.

Through their Light of Hope Family Program, we offer one-time financial assistance to pay essential household bills for Families with cancer.
