Flames defenceman Rasmus Andersson has been named the NHL's First Star of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Andersson led all skaters in scoring over the past seven days, logging nine points (2G, 7A) over four games played. He has 10 points, overall, on a five-game point streak dating back to Nov. 15.

Rasmus earns the honours with a massive three-point night

He began the week with a goal and an assist Tuesday in Chicago, then registered a three-point outing with a tally and two helpers the following evening in Buffalo, all part of a 6-2 Flames win.

On Saturday against Dallas, he had one assist and 27:18 of ice-time in Calgary's 3-2 shootout victory. He then closed the week with a three-assist effort on Sunday in Vancouver, finishing the evening +4 as the Flames defeated the Canucks 5-2.

Andersson is ranked 12th among defencemen in scoring this season with 16 points (5G, 11A). His 247 career points are the sixth-most in Flames franchise history.
