Hischier set to return against Canadiens

The Devils forward will return to the lineup after missing four games when New Jersey hosts Montreal Wednesday night

It has not been easy for New Jersey Devils top line center Nico Hischier to sit on the sidelines. Hischier has been nursing a thumb injury that took him out of the game against Winnipeg on November 11, and he has yet to play since, missing four consecutive games.

RALEIGH, N.C. - The first 30 seconds of the game proved costly for the New Jersey Devils in Carolina on Sunday afternoon. The Devils gave up two goals in the opening 30 seconds, a deficit they would not be able to climb out of against the Hurricanes. Pavel Zacha scored for a second consecutive game as the second line continues to develop chemistry in the Devils 2-1 loss to the Hurricanes.

New Jersey fell 3-2 in overtime to Detroit Saturday afternoon

For just the second time this season, the New Jersey Devils had to settle a game after 60 minutes of regulation play. The Devils dropped their contest in overtime with just 50.3 seconds left on the clock as the Red Wings sprung on a 2-on-1 to beat Keith Kinkaid glove-slide. The Devils fall to the Red Wings in overtime 3-2.

Devils forward Nico Hischier has only missed two games in his young NHL career. After playing in all 82 games last season, Hischier missed the Devils last two games with an upper body injury sustained against Winnipeg last weekend. It appears Hischier is on the mend. On Friday, with the Devils back in New Jersey fresh off their victory against the Philadelphia Flyers, Hischier joined his teammates for practice for the first time.

Devils shutout Flyers Thursday night

New Jersey walked away with a 3-0 victory in Philadelphia to mark their third shutout of the season

PHILADELPHIA, PA - There was no love lost between the New Jersey Devils and Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday night. Back out on the road, the Devils protected a 1-0 lead from the 3:45 mark of the first period until the final whistle. New Jersey defeated the Flyers 3-0 as Keith Kinkaid backstopped the Devils with his seventh career shutout, his second against the Flyers.

NEWARK, N.J. - With a day off on Monday, Devils forward Kyle Palmieri said the team used it as an opportunity to reset and regroup after a difficult seven-game road trip. That re-set proved useful, as against the Pittsburgh Penguins Tuesday night, the Devils claimed victory. 

In the comfort of Prudential Center for the first time in November, the Devils posted a 4-2 win with the reigning MVP, Taylor Hall, registering a four-point night.
