The Washington Capitals Alumni Association (WCAA) is pleased to offer the Washington Capitals Alumni Association (WCAA) Scholarship, a one-time, $5,0000.00 scholarship awarded to one student-athlete from each of the five (5) high school hockey leagues (CSHL, MAGHL, MAPHL/WCAC, MSHL, NVSHL) in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. This season marks the second year the WCAA has offered the scholarship. Each student-athlete must be a senior high school hockey player and demonstrate excellence in academics, in community service, and on the ice.

Starting on November 1, 2018, scholarship applications will be accepted. Completed applications are due by January 14, 2019. All applications must be completed through the online form. Incomplete applications will not be considered. If mailed, all supporting documents must be postmarked by February 15, 2019.

A selection committee from the Potomac Valley Amateur Hockey Association and each of the local hockey league boards (CSHL, MAGHL, MAPHL/WCAC, MSHL, and NVSHL) will review applications and recommend three (3) finalists from each league to the WCAA. Final decision on scholarship awards will be made by members of the WCAA Board of Directors. Scholarships will be awarded based on the eligibility and selection criteria below and all NHL rules and regulations.

A WCAA representative will contact the recipients of the Washington Capitals Alumni Association Scholarship prior to March 1, 2019 and winners will participate in a recognition ceremony on March 20, 2019 during #CapsBolts . Scholarship awards will be applied towards the winners' first year college tuition through student account in the fall of 2019.
