2025 IIHF Men’s World Championships | Week 1 Recap

BostonBruins.com – Through one week of the 2025 IIHF Men’s World Championship, the Bruins representatives have put forth a strong showing, paced by David Pastrnak, who leads the tournament with nine points (four goals, five assists) in four games.

Pastrnak posted two goals and an assist on Thursday in Czechia’s 6-1 win over Hungary. Jakub Lauko has notched one assist for Czechia, which is 3-1-0-0 and ranks first in Group B.

Elias Lindholm has two goals and four assists for six points (fourth-most) through four games for Sweden. The centerman posted a goal and an assist in Sweden’s 6-0 win over Latvia on Wednesday and has helped Sweden to a 4-0-0-0 record and first place (tied with Canada) in Group A.

Bruins prospect Dans Locmelis has been one of the surprises of the opening week with four points (three goals, one assist) – which ranks as sixth-most among all skaters – for Latvia (2-0-0-2, fifth in Group A).

Mason Lohrei, playing in his first World Championship for Team USA, has a goal and two assists for three points (first among American defensemen) to go along with a plus-3 rating through four games. Fellow Red, White, and Blue blue liner Andrew Peeke has also notched an assist and a plus-3 rating.

Jeremy Swayman has started two games for the United States, posting a 13-save shutout en route to a 6-0 win over Hungary before manning the pipes in a 6-5 overtime win against Hungary on Wednesday. The U.S. has posted a 2-1-0-1 record, good for third place in Group B.
