John Sandberg is in his 11th season with the Chicago Blackhawks and fourth as Creative Director.
In his current role, Sandberg is responsible for the creative direction and design of all Blackhawks print collateral and other promotional vehicles for the organization. He coordinates production for all Blackhawks publications and oversees art direction and design for Blackhawks Publishing, including the award-winning "One Goal II: The Inside Story of the 2013 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks," "One Goal III" and 2010 bestseller "One Goal Achieved."
Sandberg provides art direction for special events, including the annual Training Camp Festival and Blackhawks Convention, which earned a Silver Medal at the 2011 PromaxBDA Sports Media Marketing Awards for "Best Print, Poster or Outdoor Campaign." He has also contributed to Blackhawks capital projects, including the new team locker room, United Center East Atrium and Blackhawks offices, retail stores throughout Chicagoland and the Community Ice Arena.
Prior to joining the Blackhawks, Sandberg spent three years working in the Athletics Communications Department at Illinois State University. He served as the primary communications contact for baseball, men's and women's cross country and men's and women's track and field, while also serving as the media relations liaison for the D.A. Weibring Golf Club and secondary contact for the football program. Under his direction as chief editor and designer of the football and men's basketball gameday programs, the 2007-08 men's basketball program was voted "Best in the Nation" in NCAA Division I by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The Moline, Ill., native graduated from Illinois State University with a bachelor's degree in public relations and is working towards a master's degree in sport management from ISU.
