SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed defenseman Bjorn Krupp (pronounced BYORN KROOP) to an entry-level contract. Krupp will play this season with the Belleville Bulls of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).
Krupp, 18 (3/6/91), posted four points (1-3=4) and 22 penalty minutes (PIM) in 57 games for Belleville. He added nine PIM in 17 playoff games. Krupp spent the 2007-08 season with the U.S. National Under-18 Team, recording three assists and 40 PIM in 43 games. Krupp attended Wild training camp this season on an amateur tryout and participated with Minnesota’s team in the 2009 NHL Prospects Tournament in Traverse City, Mich.
The 6-foot-2, 189-pound native of Manhattan Beach, Calif., is the son of long-time NHL’er Uwe Krupp.
