Iowa Wild 2013-14 Record: 23-25-6-4, 56 points, Fifth Place in Midwest Division
The Iowa Wild, Minnesota Wild’s American Hockey League affiliate, split its weekend series against the Grand Rapids Griffins at Van Andel Arena. The Wild suffered a 4-0 shutout loss Friday as G John Curry stopped 32-of-36 shots. Iowa earned a 3-1 victory Saturday night. C Jake Dowell and D Jonathon Blum led the night with two assists each while LW Brad Winchester, C Warren Peters and RW Marc Hagel scored for the Wild. G Johan Gustafsson made 28 saves to earn the win. Winchester leads the Wild with 31 points (17-14=31) this season. Blum is second with 28 points (7-21=28) while C Zack Phillips ranks third with 26 points (10-16=26). Gustafsson is 9-13-2 with a 3.01 GAA, a .905 SV% and one shutout in 27 games. Curry is 7-7-2 with a 2.31 GAA, .928 SV% and one shutout in 17 games. The Wild play at Milwaukee on Wednesday and return home for a six-game homestand beginning Sunday against the San Antonio Rampage.

C Brady Brassart - Calgary (WHL): Tallied two assists in two games last week. Ranks T-15th in WHL in scoring (34-46=80) and T-17th in goals (34). Leads Calgary in points (80), power-play goals (11), T-1st in assists (46), second in goals (34) and third in PIM (94). Recorded 32 points over career-high 16-game point streak (14-18= 32) Jan. 31-March 4. Has recorded two hat tricks this season (Dec. 13 and Feb. 17), his most in a season and third and fourth of his career. Signed three-year entry level contract with Minnesota beginning in the 2014-15 season (3/1/14).
D Matt Dumba - Portland (WHL): The Wild’s first-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft recorded three points (2-1=3) and nine PIM in three games last week.
RW Kurtis Gabriel - Owen Sound (OHL): The Wild’s third-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft scored five points (2-3=5) and nine PIM in three games. Signed a three-year, entry level contract with the Wild (3/3/14). Assistant captain ranks first on the team in assists (33), second in PIM (95) and third in scoring (14-33=47).
D Dylan Labbe - Shawinigan (QMJHL): Minnesota’s fourth-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft tallied two points (1-1=2) in three games last week. Leads all defensemen and ranks third on the team in scoring (9-18=27) and in assists (18).
RW Zack Mitchell - Guelph (OHL): recorded two points (1-1=2) in two games last week. Ranks second in OHL in plus-minus (plus-49), T-6th in game-winning goals, 17th in scoring (31-50=81) and T-13th in assists (50). Leads Guelph in assists (50), second in plus-minus (plus-49) and T-4th in goals (31). Had two nine-game point streaks this season, Dec. 29–Jan. 17 (3-8=11) and Feb. 15–March 4 (7-12=19). Signed three-year entry level contract with Minnesota starting in the 2014-15 season (3/4/14).
D Nolan De Jong - Michigan (Big Ten): The Wild’s seventh-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and Michigan split its home-and-home weekend series against Michigan State.The Wolverines will host Minnesota this weekend to conclude their regular season.
D John Draeger - Michigan State (Big Ten): The Wild’s third-round selection in the 2012 Entry Draft tallied an assist as Michigan State split its home-and-home weekend series with Michigan.
C Adam Gilmour - Boston College (Hockey East): The Wild’s fourth-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft ranks third in PPG (4) and fourth in GWG (3). Boston College did not play last week and is set to face Notre Dame in the Hockey East Quarterfinals this weekend. Boston College is 17-1-2 in its last 20 games.
LW Mario Lucia - Notre Dame (Hockey East): The Wild’s second-round selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft ranks T-2nd on the Irish in points (15-13=28) and in power-play scoring (7-4=11). Notre Dame advanced to the Hockey East Quarterfinals after defeating Boston University, 3-2 (3/8).
LW Louis Nanne - Sioux Falls (USHL): Minnesota’s seventh-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft recorded two PIM in two games last week.
D Gustav Olofsson - Colorado College (NCHC): The Wild’s second-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft was named to the NCHC Academic All-Conference Team (3/11). Recorded two shots and two PIM as Colorado College dropped its weekend series at St. Cloud State University. The Tigers will face the Sioux at North Dakota for the quarterfinal round of the NCHC Championship this weekend.
C Avery Peterson - Grand Rapids (High School): Minnesota's sixth-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft returned to Sioux City Feb. 26, earning seven points (3-4=7) in the last six games. Named 2014 Minnesota Minute Men Mr. Hockey Award Winner (3/9). Ranks first on Grand Rapids All-Time list with 203 points. Led the Griffins in goals (37), assists (30) and scoring (67) in 27 games this season.
D Nick Seeler - Nebraska Omaha (NCHC): The Wild’s fifth-round selection in 2011 NHL Entry Draft was named to the NCHC Academic All-Conference Team (3/11). Recorded four PIM and two shots on net in Nebraska Omaha weekend split at Minnesota Duluth. The Mavericks will host Denver this weekend for the NCHC Quarterfinal round. Ranks first on the Mavericks in PIM (57).
D Carson Soucy - Minnesota Duluth (NCHC): Minnesota’s fifth-round selection in 2013 NHL Entry Draft tallied an assist and four PIM in Minnesota Duluth weekend split versus Nebraska Omaha. The Bulldogs will host Western Michigan this weekend for NCHC Quarterfinals. Ranks second in PIM (60) and fourth amongst defensemen in scoring (0-6=6).
C Christoph Bertschy - SC Bern (Swiss): The Wild’s sixth-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft did not play in SC Bern’s sole game last week.
D Daniel Gunnarsson - Lulea HF (Sweden): Lulea did not play last week. Minnesota’s fifth-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft netted a goal in two games last week. Ranks second amongst defensemen and ranks T-6th on the team in assists (11) and T-9th in scoring (3-11=14).
Alexandre Belanger - Rouyn-Noranda (QMJHL): The Wild’s seventh-round selection in this summer’s 2013 NHL Entry Draft went 0-2-0 in two starts last week. Ranks T-7th in QMJHL in wins (27) and 14th in GAA (3.26).
Steve Michalek - Harvard (ECAC): Minnesota’s sixth-round selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft and Harvard lost both its matchups over the weekend at Yale in the first round of the ECAC Championship tournament. The Crimson end their season 10-17-4 overall. Earned two shutouts in three starts as Harvard beat Dartmouth, 3-0 (2/7) and Clarkson, 1-0 (2/14).
