Wild Plays Of The Week: Dec. 1

by Katlyn Gambill / Minnesota Wild

Over the last few seasons, Wild.com wanted help from fans in the State of Hockey and beyond to help select the Top Play of the Year. To do so, we needed you to pick the Top Play each week, so we could pit them against each other in the offseason in a single-elimination tournament. Last season, Zach Parise’s stellar wrister against Calgary won top honors, defeating Mikko Koivu’s tic-tap-tip-in play against Winnipeg.

Last week, Jason Zucker's late tally to give the win to the Wild with 46 seconds left in the game against Philadelphia.

Nino Niederreiter makes the top three yet again, this time with a picture-perfect backhand goal. The Swiss picked up the puck by the blue line and sped past two defenders to go in alone on Roberto Luongo, before taking a page out of Mikko Koivu's book and backhanding the puck past the netminder.

Next up is Mikael Granlund's third goal of the year. Parise got the play started with a great cross-ice pass to Jason Pominville, who then fed the puck perfectly to Granlund. The Finn sent a wrist shot from the slot past Kari Lehtonen for the Wild's third goal of the night against Dallas.

For the third play of the week, Marco Scandella makes the list yet again with an overtime winner. Scandella jumped in the rush in overtime with Thomas Vanek and soon found himself backdoor to tip home a pass from Parise. It was his second overtime goal of the season.
