Wild On Ice Two Days Before Camp

by Mike Doyle / Minnesota Wild

With only two days until the official start of the 2013 Wild Training Camp, presented by Andersen Windows, a majority of the team was on the ice at Xcel Energy Center for an informal skate today.

Wild players participated in a loose Green vs. White scrimmage and looked like they we’re having fun, without the coaching staff, one last time before the real work begins. During the session defenseman Ryan Suter sported a half shield, a new addition he plans to keep for the duration of the season. After the scrimmage, nearly the entire team stayed on the ice for conditioning or to work on individual skills.

After the ice-time, WildTV spoke with Kyle Brodziak, Zach Parise and Jonas Brodin about their time off during the summer. We were surprised to learn a few interesting tidbits, including the expected gender of Zach and his wife Alicia’s twin babies. You can watch that video here.

Earlier today, as many Wild fans might already be aware, the club announced that the third installment of Becoming Wild, presented by Toyota, hits FOX Sports North this fall. Well yesterday, the team participated in a corporate golf outing at Troy Burne Golf Course and WildTV guru Dusty Peterson went along to capture footage to for a webisode, which will be exclusively on this fall. Peterson rode along with one of the club’s newest members, but I’ve been sworn to secrecy, so you’ll just have to wait for the webby.

Tomorrow marks the organization’s Media Day; where the players will pose for photos, answer questions for in-arena entertainment, radio broadcasts and game programs, and other promotional spots to be used throughout the season. WildTV will be there to film all the behind-the-scenes happenings during Media Day for another webby to be aired later this year. But I’ve already divulged too much info, and I don’t want the bosses to revoke my blogging rights, so just check back with or the Becoming Wild webpage for those webisodes.

Wild Training Camp officially starts Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at Ridder Arena.
