Wild Fan Representing In Philadelphia

by Ross Hollebon / Minnesota Wild

The State of Hockey is definitely represented in the City of Brotherly Love.

Megan Shay is from Mahtomedi, Minn., but now lives in Philadelphia after attending Villanova, and is currently nearing a Masters of Physician Assistant degree from University of Sciences.

When asked what it’s like being a fan of another team while living in the heart of Philly, Shay shared what most would expect.

“It’s a little different,” Shay said. “There’s a strong Flyers following here, so I get a lot more of the Flyers games, but I’m a Wild fan at heart, so I usually follow from home and talk to my family and follow on Twitter and Facebook.”

As for tonight’s game between the Wild and the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center, which she will attend, Shay smiled and her excitement was visible.

“I’m psyched,” the former Mahtomedi Zephyr said. “I’m excited to wear all my gear and able to cheer for my team at an away arena.”

Shay seems happy whenever she can get a little taste of home here on the East Coast.

“I love Philadelphia. I’ve been here for about seven years,” Shay said. “It’s a great city, but I do miss the Twin Cities. I get friends who come out here frequently, and I get to go home frequently so it’s a good mix."
