Home: Development Camp 2009
A busy day at Development Camp 2009 at Xcel Energy Center today -- first and foremost, the Wild signed 2008 first-round pick Tyler Cuma to a standard entry-level contract. The deal doesn’t kick in until he makes a Wild regular season roster, whether it be the fall of 2009 or 2010.

Speaking of Cuma, you can hear him on with WCCO’s Mike Max tonight at 7:10 p.m. (and watch him with Wild TV here). Colton Gillies will follow that interview up with one of his own on WCCO at 8:45 p.m. Finally, FSN’s Marney Geller was down at the rink today to interview Wild 2009 first-round pick Nick Leddy. She also talked to Tommy Thompson about Leddy. The piece is due to air during Saturday’s Qwest Twins Live pregame show on FSN.

It was a pretty up-tempo on-ice session today after taking yesterday off. The boys did take a cooking class last night, however. The team power skated for about 30 minutes, then listened to Aeros Head Coach Kevin Constantine describe the day’s practice. They were then on the ice for about another 90 minutes.

A fun drill to end practice -- an 8-on-8 competition. It was all below the blueline, with a net in each corner. It’s essentially two games of 4-on-4, and the guys can rim the puck to the other side. Both goalies’ heads were on a swivel. As was mine, because I stood behind the glass.

This afternoon, the guys will have meetings about power skating and also video sessions. I’ll be back Sunday for the open scrimmage at Xcel Energy Center at 12:30 p.m. Many people have e-mailed in asking about the cost. It’s FREE! So come on down. Doors open at noon. See the stars of tomorrow, this Sunday.
