Practice lasted for over an hour and some guys stayed on the ice for more than 90 minutes as Jacques Lemaire put his players through skating drills and worked on offense. There was one interesting moment when Marian Gaborik crashed into the net and fell to the ice, but he picked himself up, no worse for the wear, and continued through the rest of the drills. Gaborik would like to play on this trip, but, according to Lemaire, it will be hard for that to happen with only two practices before tomorrow’s game, then only a practice on Friday before back-to-back games. He won’t play tomorrow and won’t be ready by Saturday, thought Lemaire, so if he doesn’t play Saturday he would be out Sunday as well.

Forward practice Lines:
Pierre-Marc Bouchard - Mikko Koivu - Andrew Brunette
Colton Gillies - Benoit Pouliot - Antti Miettinen
Derek Boogaard - James Sheppard - Cal Clutterbuck
Brent Burns - Eric Belanger - Stephane Veilleux

Marian Gaborik - Craig Weller

Greetings from sunny Phoenix and the empty confines of Arena. What a treat to get off the plane this afternoon and forget about the snow and cold back home in Minnesota. It is supposed to be even warmer in Los Angeles this weekend. Too bad we have to lug our winter coats around for the next four days with us. It will not be fun getting off plane early Monday morning and be greeted by the snow.

The Coyotes are in Dallas tonight, so we have the rink all to ourselves. We left right at 11 a.m. and touched down at 1 p.m. this afternoon, 30 minutes ahead of schedule. Some guys played cards on the plane, others watched movies and some slept on the three-hour flight. Beef and chicken kabobs on a bed of rice were served for lunch. After a 35-minute bus ride to our hotel, the team checked in and then walked across the street to the rink for practice. Only 38 passengers on today’s flight: 22 players made the trip. Marian Gaborik is with us, but Owen Nolan is not. Doug Risebrough and Craig Leipold are meeting the team in Phoenix. It will be the first time this season Craig will accompany the team on a road trip, as he will fly with the team to Los Angeles and fly home with us following Sunday’s game in Anaheim.

Will provide a practice update if anything exciting happens, as the guys are getting ready to take the ice now.
