Postgame Notes vs. Philadelphia - Dec. 23

Minnesota fell to Philadelphia, 5-2, Tuesday night in front of a sellout crowd of 19,020 at Xcel Energy Center. D Marco Scandella and C Charlie Coyle each scored for the Wild. G Darcy Kuemper made 25 saves. After the three-day holiday break, Minnesota will close out its four-game homestand against the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. CT on FOX Sports North and KFAN 100.3 FM.

The Wild killed the Flyers sole power-play chance and has killed 53-of-61 (86.9%) of opponent power-play opportunities combined in the last 20 games dating back to Nov. 8. Over the last 17 games, the Wild’s power play has outscored its opponents’ man advantage 13-7. Minnesota has scored nine power-play goals in its last nine games which rank T-4th in the NHL since Nov. 29.

D Marco Scandella netted the Wild’s first goal of the game. He ranks T-5th amongst NHL defensemen with eight goals this year. He has 13 points (8-5=13) in 28 games.

LW Zach Parise earned the secondary assist on Scandella’s goal. He leads the Wild with 27 points (13-14=27) this season. Of his 27 contests this year, he has registered at least one point in 17 games – seven of those being multi-point games. He has 37 points (18-19=37) in 43 games vs. the Flyers – his 18 goals are the most against any team.

D Jared Spurgeon tallied an assist on Scandella’s goal. He leads the team with 61 blocked shots this season and has 10 points (3-7=10) in 25 games. He has missed seven total games this year due to an upper body injury (10/30-11/13) and illness (12/13-12/17).

C Charlie Coyle recorded his third goal of the season in the second period. He has three points in his last two games (1-2=3). He has tallied at least three hits in 10 of the last 15 games, totaling 44 in that span. He leads the Wild with 67 hits and has 14 points (3-11=14) in 32 games.

RW Jason Pominville tallied the primary assist on Coyle’s goal. He has posted points in 10 of his last 13 games, totaling 12 points (3-9=12) in that span. He ranks second on the Wild with 24 points (7-17=24) in 32 games this season and leads the team in shots (169).

D Ryan Suter registered the secondary assist on Coyle’s goal and skated a game-high 28:48. He leads the Wild in assists and has 22 points (1-21=22) in 30 games. He has led all skaters - Wild and opponents – in all but two of his 30 games this season.

G Darcy Kuemper made 25 saves in tonight’s game. He moves to 7-4-0 with a 2.86 GAA, .876 SV% and two shutouts in 13 games (12 starts) this season at Xcel Energy Center.

C Sean Couturier, C Claude Giroux, RW Wayne Simmonds, C Vincent Lecavalier and LW Michael Raffl each scored for Philadelphia while G Ray Emery made 22 saves.
