Postgame Notes vs. Colorado - Jan. 11

Avalanche C Ryan O’Reilly scored two goals, including the game winner in the third period as Colorado earned a 4-2 win in front of sellout crowd of 19,117 fans – the largest home crowd of the season – Saturday night at Xcel Energy Center. C Charlie Coyle scored twice for Minnesota, while G Niklas Backstrom made 14 saves in the loss. Next up, the Wild travels to Nashville for a one-game road trip, tomorrow at 6 p.m. CT on FSN-PLUS and KFAN 100.3 FM.

Minnesota saw its four-game win streak come to an end, as it lost its first game of 2014. The Wild moved to 16-6-2 in Saint Paul this season.

C Charlie Coyle recorded his first career two-goal game and second career two-point game. Coyle’s goals, 40 seconds apart in the second period, set a franchise record for fastest two goals by one Wild player at Xcel Energy Center, eclipsing Richard Park, who scored 1:20 apart versus Calgary on March 18, 2002. He now has 14 points (6-8=14) in 35 games this season.

LW Dany Heatley earned the primary assist on both of Coyle’s goals earning his second multi-point game of the season and 193rd of his career. He has 15 points (8-7=15) in 47 games.

D Nate Prosser tallied an assist on Coyle’s second goal, his first point since Oct. 26. He now has three assists in 21 games with the Wild this season.

G Niklas Backstrom stopped 14-of-17 shots, seeing his three-game win streak come to an end.

C Ryan O’Reilly scored twice for Colorado, while LW Gabriel Landeskog and C Maxime Talbot also scored for the Avalanche and G Semyon Varlamov made 25 saves in net.
