C Logan Couture snapped a tie with 3:51 left in regulation and G Evgeni Nabokov made 27 saves, as the San Jose Sharks defeated the Minnesota Wild 3-2 in front of an overflow sellout crowd of 18,584 at Xcel Energy Center. RW Cal Clutterbuck scored a goal and tied his own franchise record with 10 hits, RW Antti Miettinen also scored and G Niklas Backstrom made 25 saves for Minnesota, which begins a three-game road trip Sunday in Vancouver. With the loss, the Wild was eliminated from playoff contention.


RW Cal Clutterbuck scored his career-high 13th goal – first in 16 games since Feb. 14. He also tied his own franchise-record with 10 hits, including seven in the third period. He had 10 hits Dec. 17 at Montreal.

RW Antti Miettinen scored his career-high 19th goal of the season.

RW Owen Nolan played in his 1,199th NHL game.

The Wild is 25-12-3 at home – tied for the second-most home wins in a single season. Minnesota went 29-7-5 in 2006-07. The Wild has one home game left this season – Saturday, April 10 versus Dallas.

Minnesota is 16-5-5 in regular season home games in March and April in the last two-plus seasons.

Minnesota wore its third jersey at home for the 13th and final time (9-2-2).

The Wild is 2-10-3 in its last 15 meetings with the Sharks, with both wins coming in OT. Minnesota has not defeated San Jose in regulation since a 4-1 decision (10/21/06) at San Jose. Minnesota is 1-6-2 in the last nine home meetings, with that lone win coming in OT. The Wild hasn’t defeated the Sharks in regulation at Xcel Energy Center since a 6-1 win (10/19/05). The Wild was swept by the Sharks in regulation in a regular-season series for the first time in team history.
