G Evgeni Nabokov made 18 saves, C Torrey Mitchell scored a big goal 17 seconds into the third period and D Rob Blake posted three assists, as the San Jose Sharks defeated the Minnesota Wild 4-1 in front of 18,551 at Xcel Energy Center. G Niklas Backstrom made 13 saves and LW Guillaume Latendresse scored a goal for Minnesota, which plays at Philadelphia on Thursday.

LW Guillaume Latendresse scored his 27th goal of the season – 25th in 48 games with Minnesota to tie for the ninth-best goal-scoring season ever by a Wild player.

D Nick Schultz, the Wild’s all-time leader in games played, played in his 600th game.

G Niklas Backstrom made 13 saves in his first appearance since March 9, due to injury. Backstrom fell to 0-3-1 in his last four starts.

D Brent Burns notched his fourth assist in as many games played. He missed six games due to injury in that span.

The Wild went 5-for-5 on the penalty kill and is a perfect 11-for-11 over the last three games. This comes after a stretch in which Minnesota yielded a power play goal in five straight games.

Minnesota had its four-game home point streak (3-0-1) snapped. The Wild is 24-10-3 this season and 30-10-7 in its last 47 games at home.

Minnesota fell to 15-3-5 in regular season home games in March and April in the last two-plus seasons.

The Wild is 2-9-3 in its last 14 meetings with the Sharks, with both wins coming in OT. Minnesota has not defeated San Jose in regulation since a 4-1 decision (10/21/06) at San Jose. Minnesota is 1-5-2 in the last eight home meetings, with that lone win coming in OT. The Wild hasn’t defeated the Sharks in regulation at Xcel Energy Center since a 6-1 win Oct. 19, 2005.
