| Matt Foy has been called up from Houston for the second time this season. |
Right winger Matt Foy will be the next hot hand that the Minnesota Wild calls up from the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League. Foy, who just recorded a natural hat trick in a 6:17 span during a 5-3 Aeros win on Friday, will join the Wild on Tuesday for practice. His call up follows Sunday’s reassignment of Benoit Pouliot, Houston’s leading goal scorer at the time of his call up, who played three games for the Wild during his first NHL stint.
This will be the second call up for Foy, who led the Aeros in scoring with 22 points (11-11=22) in 20 games. He was held scoreless in two road games early in October.
As for Pouliot, who scored a goal in a 6-1 Houston win on Sunday, Wild Head Coach Jacques Lemaire was mostly pleased with what he saw. After a sluggish training camp in September, Lemaire said Pouliot’s intensity was there, and he just needs to cut down on mistakes that players can get away with in the minors.
"In his first game (Wednesday at Montreal) he was really good," said Lemaire. "He might have been a little more tired for the back-to-back games. I know he’ll be up here again."
