MINNESOTA COACH JACQUES LEMAIRE QUOTES
Tuesday, March 07, 2006 versus Los Angeles
The collapses you’ve had. Is this the worst?
“For the way I look at the game, the way I want the guys to play, it’s been a long time since we played as bad as we did. I’m talking about teamwork, support on the ice, winning battles on the boards. Puck handling, driving at the net, it’s got to be one of our worst. It’s not a good time to come up with a game like this.”
You don’t think it was after you took the two goal lead?
“No, I thought it was like that since the start. We were getting beaten in the neutral zone. The defensemen, most of them weren’t sharp. The guys that played the best, Zyuzin (Andrei), Tjarnqvist (Daniel), played fine. But we’ve got to have more than that.”
“It’s not good. I mean we can’t give up. We went into a shell and we spent a lot of time in our end, and when you spend that much time in your end, regardless if your playing well in the defensive zone, it’s just a matter of time to give that thing up. You can’t be in your zone the majority of the third period and expect to win.”
”Tonight they were playing the same exact game as us. They backed up in the neutral zone, and there was no room out there obviously. We had to grind that game out, and in the end we didn’t”
