MINNESOTA COACH JACQUES LEMAIRE QUOTES
Friday, January 20, 2006 versus Chicago
Do you feel Chicago was a little tired tonight?
“I think they showed they were a little tired from last nights game. I think they played a very good game last night. They took a lot of penalties tonight. I think last nights game took a lot of energy out of them. Their intensity was not the same as the last time we played them.”
Talk about the Koivu (Mikko, Stephane Veilleux, and Kyle Wanvig) line?
“They moved the puck very well. I thought that line played very well. Hopefully they can keep it up and continue to play that way. I thought they brought a lot of energy to tonight’s game.”
How big was that penalty kill (the 5 on 3)?
“I think that was a big turn right there. Maybe if they score we drop our energy level, but it was great to kill that off. But I think as a whole most of the guys played well. The D moved the puck up very well tonight. I thought the intensity level was very high.”
Talk about your lines play tonight.
“I thought we played very well. I feel this is the way we have to play for us to win. We showed a lot of energy, played close to the puck, we worked hard, we wanted to make sure we outworked them tonight. And I feel we did that. As long as you compete every night like we did tonight we have a chance to be in the lineup, and that is the way we have to play.”
These back to back games against teams are very important.
“Especially this time of year. The play off race is getting tight and every game is important, and hopefully we can build on this Sunday. It would be nice to get on a winning streak.”
