Participating in his first NHL All-Star Weekend, Devan Dubnyk
went through the media gauntlet in Nashville earlier today. Check out the photos from his media tour here
Here are some of Dubnyk's responses from the NHL’s Media Day on Friday:
On returning to Nashville:
I was just joking, going in to get changed and put the hoodie on, back in the locker room there. It was strange to walk into. It’s kind of cool to add it to the whirlwind and it’s another part of the story to be told later on. To be able to have it come back here, really where this was probably rock bottom, during the bad time, where I cleared waivers, and got traded to Montreal, which was probably the lowest time in my career. It’s kind of cool to celebrate something exciting like this, here.
On what the 3-on-3 All-Star format will be like for a goalie:
Is it going to be any worse than before? I’ve watched All-Star games in the past, and that didn’t look like much fun either [for a goaltender]. I hope they don’t keep stats, try to get in front of half of them maybe. It’s going to be crazy as a goalie, just try to go relax and have as much fun as you can.
On joining the Wild:
I was able to get to Minnesota, and the way the fans have treated me, and the guys on the team, and in the organization, it feels really good to make a home there for some time going forward.
On the recognition:
It feels good. Obviously it’s not what it’s all about, but to go through all that and appreciate it a lot more. To see what the other side of it was like and to be able to get here and see what you dreamed about as a kid and what you strived for. I can definitely appreciate it a lot more.
