The Minnesota Wild and Minnesota Hockey jointly announced today a Sportsmanship Essay Contest as part of Hockey Day Minnesota. Registered Minnesota Hockey players are invited to enter the “How I Show My Sportsmanship” essay contest. The winner will host the 2007 Minnesota Wild Green-White preseason scrimmage.
Boys and girls statewide are invited to enter an essay stating how they show their sportsmanship. Age groups include; Squirts/10 & Under, Pee Wees/12 & Under, Bantams/14 & Under, and Jr. Gold/19 & Under Essays may not exceed 250 words and must be mailed to: Sportsmanship Essay, Executive Director, Minnesota Hockey, 317 Washington St., St. Paul, MN 55102 by December 15, 2006.
Five finalists, at least one from each age group, will be selected and announced via media release as well as on FSN North during the Minnesota Wild vs. Columbus Blue Jackets game on Friday, December 29, 2006. The grand prize of hosting the 2007 MN Wild preseason scrimmage will be randomly drawn from the finalists and announced on January 20, 2007 in conjunction with Hockey Day Minnesota.
The names of all who submit essays will be published. Well-written and thoughtful essays representing each level of participation will be entered into a drawing for prizes.
