Fantasy Spotlight: Mikko Koivu

Wild fans know that Mikko Koivu is an integral part of the Minnesota lineup. The Wild Captain's 11-game absence with a broken finger showcased just how important his presence is, both on the ice and in the locker room. In case there were any questions surrounding what specifically Koivu brings to the lineup, the 28-year-old made it obviously clear on Monday night in Vancouver.

Minnesota might have gotten the loss against the Canucks, but it was pretty obvious the Wild outplayed Vancouver and would have come away with the victory on most nights. The non-stop drive and desire the Wild showed seemed to be a direct result of Kaptain Koivu, who looked like a man on a mission. The Finn had a goal and assist in his return to action Monday and you can only believe his effort tonight will be even more impressive as the Wild is up against the wall of the Western Conference playoff chase.

If Koivu is one thing, it's intense. He won't let the Wild go into an early summer without putting up a massive fight. And lucky for Wild fans, tonight that fight will be against the Sharks, a team he has found success against recently. Mikko has a three-game point streak (3-1=4) against the Sharks this season, including goals in the last two contests.

On the year, he ranks second on the Wild in assists, points (16-35=51) and plus/minus rating (+6).
