CALGARY COACH DARRYL SUTTER QUOTES
Tuesday, March 21, 2006 versus Minnesota
“I don’t think it’s so much what they did, it’s what we didn’t do. We didn’t do what we did the first game on Sunday night. We didn’t get the pucks deep enough and there were way too many turnovers at their blue line, and that’s what they strive on, they’re counter attack. And it seemed like we relied on Kipper (Miikka Kiprusoff) way too much.”
How did it feel to get that goal?
“It’s nice at the time, but that means nothing now. It would have been much nicer if we got the two points.”
How bad is it to get that short handed goal in the last minute there?
“It’s definitely a boost to get a short handed goal for a club. You know we were thinking we wanted to go in with a lead going into the third and they ended up with it. But at the same time, you have to give the Wild credit. They got a lot of shots tonight, they won a lot of the scrums and the battles, and they were better.”
The killing of the third period, did you just not make it happen, or did they prevent you from doing it?
“It was a combination. They were good, they were ready, they were desperate, they want to make the playoffs. We’re desperate too, but we knew they would be coming out more hungry and more desperate. We were in that situation a couple weeks ago.”
