Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has named Blair Mackasey (pronounced: MACK-uh-see) as Director of Player Personnel. Mackasey has served as the Wild’s Director of Professional Scouting since January of 2006. In addition, the Wild has extended the contracts of pro scouts Jamie Hislop and Chris Kelleher, Coordinator of Amateur Scouting Guy Lapointe, as well as amateur scouts Paul Charles, Pavel Routa, Marc Chamard, Craig Channell, Brian Hunter, Brian Fortin, Ernie Vargas and Chris Hamel.
Mackasey, 54 (12/13/55), will continue to oversee the Wild’s professional scouting department, as well as perform special hockey operations assignments. Mackasey joined the Wild in January 2006, after serving as Hockey Canada’s Head Scout (June 2002-July 2005) and Director, Player Personnel (July 2005-January 2006). Prior to joining Hockey Canada, Mackasey was a member of the Phoenix Coyotes' scouting staff for six seasons (1996-2002).
