Tonight, a return visit to Detroit to see if the Stars can make it 2 in a row in their 2nd and final trip to Joe Louis Arena. Detroit is riding the same up and down road the Stars are as they have been 5-4-1 in their last 10, too. Just like our Stars, consistency has not been happening in Detroit.
In fact, in their last 4 home games - going back to the Stars last visit - the Wings have scored a total of 2 goals. Not an average. A Total. Trust me, I have no idea, either.
Meanwhile, the Stars had an odd weekend. Pounded on Friday night in Phoenix, as apparently Dave Tippett knows a thing or two about beating the Dallas Stars, and then responding pretty well on Saturday night when the Tampa Bay Lightning rallied late to tie the game. The Stars figured out how to grab 2 points in Overtime, as their two young Swede forwards hooked up on the OT winner, as Loui Eriksson
found Tom Wandell
who knew exactly what to do with the puck.
Wandell has emerged as a real find for this organization, and I am very excited to see his combination of speed and puck skills. It wasn't long ago that any amount of promising youth was tough to find, and now the Stars have young players doing things every night that impress. I like him quite a bit.
The Power Play is also on the up-tick, 24% in the month of November (7th in the NHL) which has really made things a lot easier, after an October that was just 17%. Brad Richards leads the crew, but the usual suspects #63, #3, #9, #10, and #21 are all there plenty, too. Heck, full marks to Jere Lehtinen for scoring his 1st of the season in a sweet finish on Saturday night that looked like the game winner for quite a while.
6:30 tonight, on Ch 27 in HD!
By the way, make sure you check out Andrew's Dallas Stars page update on Sergei Zubov this morning
