Sturm Blog: Becoming A Bit Annoying

by Bob Sturm / Dallas Stars

Ok, this road stuff is beginning to become a bit annoying.
It seems that we are watching the same game over and over again.
20 minutes in, Stars are playing a solid road game, and in a good spot.
40 minutes in, things are not as good, but still within striking distance.
60 minutes in, another road collapse - quiet bus and quiet plane to follow.
It might be different specifics each night, in a different city, and a different opponent - but the result remains the same.  This must change, because the playoffs are sailing away quickly, and as well as home ice is treating the Stars, they must grind out points on the road to survive this fight.
Also, working against Crawford and the boys are the injuries.  They are coming fast and furious.  Ribs, Morrow, and Lehts are down - and now Wandell in Vancouver last night?
In goal, tall, bald Alex Auld had a nice stretch rolling along until the meltdown in the 40th minute last night.  They say pressure bursts pipes, and perhaps the fine line that the goalies in Dallas must walk is leading them to feeling pressure even when it isn't there.  A gift giveaway on the road against a good team is a 3 second mistake that sinks a 60-minute effort.

Edmonton tonight, and I assume Marty Turco will have a chance to reclaim his crease with a good night against a team that is sinking even quicker - the Oilers.
One thing about Turco that I wanted to set straight: Last night  during a live chat on my personal blog,  I indicated that Marty Turco has a no-trade clause.  I was wrong.  He did have one, but it has expired, so I wanted to fix that detail.  Not saying the Stars are shopping Marty, just saying that he cannot veto a move between now and the end of his deal on July 1.
Anyway, let's get this thing going quick.  Edmonton seems like a great spot to get their first regulation road win since mid-November.
See you on the couch.
