DALLAS STARS RECALL LEFT WING BRUNNSTROM

FRISCO, Tex. – The Dallas Stars announced today that the club has recalled left wing Fabian Brunnstrom from the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League (AHL). He was assigned to the Moose on Jan. 27 after missing 11 games due to a lower body injury suffered on Dec. 27 vs. Anaheim. Brunnstrom will travel to Dallas today and will rejoin the Stars when they return home from their game at Columbus tonight.

Brunnstrom, 23, appeared in one game for the Moose this week, going scoreless. The native of Jonstorp, Sweden, has skated in 31 NHL games for Dallas this season, collecting 10 goals and four assists for 14 points with two penalty minutes. He leads the Stars and ranks first among NHL rookies in game-winning goals (4), and is third in the NHL (and first among league rookies) in shooting percentage (22.2%). Brunnstrom is also ranked tied for seventh among first-year players in goals.

Signed as a free agent by Dallas on May 8, 2008, Brunnstrom became just the third player in NHL history to earn a hat trick in his league debut with three goals on Oct. 15 vs. Nashville.

Brunnstrom recorded 37 points (9 goals, 28 assists) in 54 games with Farjestads BK in the Swedish Elite League last season, leading that club in assists.
