Stars Prospects Down Carolina in Traverse City

The Dallas Stars prospects got things off to a good start on Saturday in their first game of the NHL Prospect Tournament in Traverse City, Michigan, defeating Carolina by a score of 8-2. Matt Fraser had three goals while Scott Glennie and Brett Ritchie each had three assists. 2011 sixth round pick Matej Stransky had a goal and two assists, while goaltender Tyler Beskorowany stopped 16-of-18 shots in the victory. Defenseman Brenden Dillon also had two assists in the game.

Texas Stars Head Coach Jeff Pyle is coaching the Dallas prospects. The Stars scored early, with Fraser netting the first goal of the game just 30 seconds in. The Stars led, 4-0, after one period of play. Dallas out-shot Carolina, 13-2, in the first 20 minutes.

Matt Tassone, Matt Carter and Stephen Schultz also scored goals for Dallas.

The Stars ended up outshooting Carolina for the game, 37-18.

Dallas will take on the New York Rangers on Sunday at 5 pm (Central Time). Jack Campbell is expected to get the start in goal. The game will be carried live on NHL Network.
