Stars-Penguins Notes

by Mark Stepneski / Dallas Stars

Stars goaltender Kari Lehtonen was back in net after missing four games due to a concussion suffered in the March 8 game against Minnesota.

Lehtonen was tested early, stopping three shots as the Penguins got an early power play chance in the game, and he faced some quality chances over 60 minutes and made some good saves. But by the end of the night he had given up five goals on 32 shots in the Stars’ 5-1 loss the Penguins.

“It was OK,” Lehtonen said. “I felt like I got a good start with some good saves there right away. After that it was just one of those games when they had a few chances and they were able to put the puck in. Just I have to be better and I think everybody else needs to be better too.”

Stars coach Lindy Ruff used the term “OK” as well when summing up Lehtonen’s first night back.

“Just OK, but coming off injury, it was good to get him back in, get him going,” Ruff said.
