The Dallas Stars-Columbus Blue Jackets game that was postponed last week due to the medical emergency involving Rich Peverley has been rescheduled for April 9 at American Airlines Center.
That game, which was halted at 6:23 into the first period, will be played for a full 60 minutes of regulation and any needed overtime or shootout. The game will start with Columbus leading 1-0, which was the score when last week’s game was suspended. Nathan Horton will be credited with a goal and Matt Calvert and James Wisniewski will get the assists. All other statistics will be expunged, according to the NHL.
As for those holding tickets to last week’s game, the Stars outlined the details in a release on Sunday:
“Tickets for the postponed Monday, March 10 are now valid to the rescheduled game on Wednesday, April 9. Fans that possess a ticket dated March 10 do not need to exchange it. The seat from March 10 is reserved for April 9, and the existing ticket will be valid for admission. Fans with questions on the process may call 214-GO-STARS. Season Ticket Holders may direct any questions to their Customer Service Managers. Details can be found by visiting www.dallasstars.com/reschedule. “
Quotable: Lindy Ruff on Jamie Benn, Antoine Roussel taking undisciplined penalties late Sunday’s game
“That’s the frustration. I don’t like his (Benn’s} penalties, I don’t like Roussel, what he did at the end of the game. They handed us a loss, take it, swallow it and move on. If you want to play hard and be physical, I want you to do it at the beginning of the game. Don’t do it at the end of the game. That’s the stuff as a team we have to grow, we have to learn and belly up to the bar and admit we weren’t very good.”
*The seven goals against matched the season-worst for the Stars, equaling the number they gave up in a 7-3 loss at the New York Islanders on January 6.
*The seven goals were a season-high for the Jets.
*The Jets outshot the Stars 34-27, including 24-13 over the first two periods.
*The Stars were 0-2 on the power play and 5-6 on the penalty kill.
*The Stars won 35 of 71 faceoffs (49 percent). Jamie Benn won 10 of 14. Cody Eakin won 9 of 17. Vernon Fiddler won 7 of 18.
*Stars defenseman Alex Goligoski was a team-low minus-four in the game. Trevor Daley, Eakin and Colton Sceviour all were a minus-three.
*With Eakin returning from injury Sunday evening, the Stars assigned center Travis Morin to the Texas Stars of the AHL prior to the game.
*Since being moved from defense to forward, Winnipeg’s Dustin Byfuglien, who had two goals and one assist Sunday, has 18 points (nine goals, nine assists) in 23 games.
*Byfuglien left the game in the third period with a lower body injury and did not return.
