.)  Tonight’s match-up is the sixth and final meeting of the season between the Anaheim Ducks and the Dallas Stars. The Stars will close out the 2008-09 season tonight in Anaheim. The Stars have taken three of the five games played between the two clubs so far this season going 3-1-1 and winning twice in regulation and once in overtime. Dallas boasts a 51-23-9 record all-time against the Ducks. The Stars hold a 21-14-6 record on the road against Anaheim, including winning both contests this season at the Ducks’ Honda Center.
.)  Ivan Vishnevskiy recorded his first career NHL point with an assist last night in Colorado. The defenseman was playing in his second NHL game after being recalled from Peoria of the AHL on April 4. Vishnevskiy has skated in 67 games this season for Peoria, scoring six goals and 13 assists for 19 points. The Barnaul, Russia native, spent three seasons in the QMJHL with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies before 2008-09. In 159 games with the Huskies, he collected 44 goals and 100 assists for 144 points. The 22-year-old was selected by the Stars in the first round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft (27th overall).

.)  Steve Begin scored his second goal as a Dallas Star on Thursday night against Colorado. Begin joined the Stars on February 26 after being traded from Montreal in exchange for defenseman Doug Janik. The center has recorded eight goals and five assists for 13 points and 42 penalty minutes through 61 games this season. Begin spent four seasons with the Canadiens before being traded to Dallas, and the 30-year-old has skated in 408 career NHL games, racking up 482 penalty minutes.
.)  Mike Ribeiro’s shootout goal last night ( 700K) against the Avalanche might be the best of the season. Ribeiro was able to skate backward, while moving toward the net, on his shootout attempt and was able to shoot the puck on his forehand, through his legs to beat Budaj for the shootout game-deciding goal. The center now has two shootout game-deciding goals among six shootout goals this season. Ribeiro ranks first on the Stars in shooting percentage in the shootout with six goals on 11 attempts (54.6%).
.)  One to watch for: Bobby Ryan, former first round pick in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft (second overall), has erupted in his rookie season in the NHL. The Cherry Hill, NJ, native has been a crucial player for Anaheim since being called up early this season, scoring 30 goals and 26 assists for 56 points through 62 games. Ryan leads all rookies in goals, points and shooting percentage (18.2%). The 22-year-old ranks first on the Ducks in plus/minus (+15), second in power-play goals (11) and third in points. In six career games against the Stars, Ryan has scored one goal and three assists for four points.
