.)  Thursday's match-up marks the fourth and final meeting between the Dallas Stars and the Detroit Red Wings this season. The last meeting featured a thrilling overtime victory by the Stars 5-4 with Trevor Daley scoring the overtime game-winning goal 1:51 into OT. The Stars are going into the match-up with a 2-1 advantage in the series on the season but the Motor City has been a difficult place to play for the Stars. Dallas heads into Joe Louis Arena having won there only twice since the start of the 2002-03 season. The Stars’ all-time record in Detroit is 39-57-16.
.)  Mike Ribeiro has recorded eight points in the last six games and is gaining momentum in the scoring department. The center is starting to jell with his new linemates, Jere Lehtinen and Steve Ott, who both scored Jan. 27 vs. Atlanta with assists from Ribeiro. The Montreal native has taken his usual spot as the leader in points on the team with 42 and looks to hold onto that for the rest of the season with the improved play on his line. The 28-year-old has led the Stars in points in his first two seasons with the club. Ribeiro is currently tied-for-15th in the NHL in assists with 30 on the season.
.)  Marty Turco recorded his second shutout of the season and 35th of his career Tuesday. This season Turco has struggled to remain consistent in-between the pipes and the first half of the 2008-09 season will not hold up as some of his best work, but the three-time all-star has put up some good wins since the start of 2009, including the shutout Jan. 27 vs. Atlanta. In his last 20 games, Turco has gone 12-5-3 with a 2.46 GAA and a .906 save percentage.
.)  Nicklas Grossman may not be lighting up opposing teams on the scoreboard every night but he has made his presence felt on the ice. In the Stars’ last four wins, Grossman has been credited with five blocked shots and 15 hits. The Stockholm, Sweden native, has been able to influence the game by punishing the other team with his physical style of defense. Grossman has scored two goals in his NHL career, one this season and one last season in the playoffs. Both goals were against the Red Wings.
.)  One to watch for: Henrik Zetterberg (usually), who recently signed a 12-year contract extension with Detroit, has been able to find a way to be consistent on the score sheet helping the Red Wings hold onto first place in the Central Division. Last year’s Conn Smythe Trophy winner, awarded to the MVP of the Playoffs, currently has 17 goals and 26 assists for 43 points. The Njurunda, Sweden native, recorded a career-high 92 points last season and 27 points in the Red Wing’s 2008 Stanley Cup winning playoff run. Zetterberg has especially enjoyed playing the Stars, in 21 career games he has scored four goals and 19 assists for 23 points, however, Zetterberg has been ruled out of tonight’s match-up with the Stars with a sore back, according to media reports.
