The Dallas Stars moved to within two points of eighth place in the Western Conference, blowing by the Los Angeles Kings 5-1 at American Airlines Center Tuesday night. It was the third straight win for the Stars, who were tied 1-1 going into the third period but outscored the Kings 4-0 over the final 20 minutes. Ray Whitney and Vernon Fiddler each scored two goals for the Stars. Alex Goligoski also tallied. Richard Bachman, who took over in net after Kari Lehtonen left in the first period with an injury, picked up the win, stopping all 22 shots he faced.
Kari Lehtonen leaves game with injury; Bachman stellar in relief
Stars goaltender Kari Lehtonen left Tuesday’s game with 5:17 left in the first period with a lower body injury. One team official said it was mild groin issue and Lehtonen was expected to be day-to-day.
Richard Bachman took over in net and made 22 saves on 22 shots. Bachman came up big in the second period, stopping all 17 shots he faced.
