The Dallas Stars lost their second straight game and fell back to the .500 (16-16-3) on the season, losing 4-0 to the Anaheim Ducks at American Airlines Center Monday night. The Ducks scored three goals in a 4:49 span of the second period to break the game open. Anaheim goaltender Viktor Fasth stopped 26 shots for his third shutout of the season.
Turning point: Special teams
With the game still scoreless, the Stars had two power play chances early in the second period but couldn’t take advantage. A little more than a minute after the Stars second power play expired, the Ducks got their first chance with the man-advantage and Bobby Ryan scored to give them a 1-0 lead. The Ducks added two more goals in less than five minutes to take a 3-0 lead.
Stars end homestand 2-3-0
With Monday’s loss the Stars went 2-3-0 on their five game homestand. The Stars fell to 8-9-2 at American Airlines Center this season, the worst home record in the Western Conference.
