Karlis Skrastins Activated From Injured Reserve List

Frisco, Tex. – The Dallas Stars announced today that the club has activated defenseman Karlis Skrastins from the team’s injured reserve list. He was placed on injured reserve on Dec. 7, retroactive to Dec. 3.

Skrastins, 35, suffered a laceration on his right index finger on Dec. 3 against Anaheim. He has skated in 28 games for the Stars in 2009-10, collecting five assists and eight penalty minutes. The Riga, Latvia native, ranks tied-for-12th in the NHL in blocked shots with 63. Skrastins has played in 707 career NHL games, recording 115 points (27g, 88a). The 6-1, 208-pound defenseman signed a two-year contract with Dallas on July 2, 2009.

The Dallas Stars will play the San Jose Sharks tonight at HP Pavilion (9:00 pm CT, TV: My27, Radio: Sports Radio 1310 The Ticket).
