GOALTENDER STEPHAN RECALLED
UNDER EMERGENCY CONDITIONS
Smith Listed as Day-to-Day With a Bruised Arm
FRISCO, Tex. – Dallas Stars General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that the club has recalled goaltender Tobias Stephan under emergency conditions from the Iowa Stars, Dallas’ primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League. Goaltender Mike Smith is listed as day-to-day after suffering a bruised arm in Tuesday’s practice, and will re-evaluated after Wednesday’s morning skate.
Stephan, 23, appeared in his first North American professional season in 2006-07 with the Iowa Stars, and posted a 10-15-0 record, a 2.88 goals-against-average and a shutout in 27 games played. He also played in two of Iowa’s Calder Cup Playoff games last season, recording a 3.46 goals-against-average.
The native of Zurich, Switzerland, was originally selected by Dallas in the second round (No. 34 overall) of the 2002 Entry Draft. He played for the Kloten Flyers in the Swiss National League from 2002-06 and represented Switzerland at the 2002 and 2003 World Junior Championships, as well as the 2001 and 2002 World Under-18 Championships.
